Our Story

It started with a cup of Lapsang Souchong in a very small kitchen in Prague. Not the version you've probably had before — weak, woodsy, faintly artificial. This was the real thing: dense and smoky, almost savory, brewed from whole leaves dried over pine smoke in Fujian province. I remember thinking: there is an entire world of flavor in tea that I have never encountered in a grocery store aisle.

Creative Nest started as a side project and turned into something more deliberate. The name came from how I think about the tea ritual: the act of making yourself something — stopping to steep and wait and pour — is a small creative act in an otherwise full day. The nest is the space you carve out for it. It doesn't have to be elaborate. It just has to be yours.

Every blend we carry was chosen to be interesting without being intimidating. There are many beautiful, complex teas in the world that can feel precious or hard to access — sourced from ultra-rare single-origin harvests, requiring temperature precision to the exact degree. We appreciate those teas too, but Creative Nest is not about gatekeeping. We curate from the world's great tea-growing regions — China, Japan, South Africa, South America, the Mediterranean — and choose blends that open a door rather than close one. Something you'll reach for on a Tuesday morning, not just on a special occasion.

We're still early. Growing slowly, staying small, getting the blends right before we add more. If you found us through a search or a recommendation, thank you for being here.
